I'm incredibly excited about the change to Substack, and additional Berm Peak content. Your solutions to the current problematic online incentive structure may produce the bike publication we've all been waiting for. I just moved over from Patreon, and am really looking forward to being part of this community! Keep doing what you do!
Thanks for the kind words, David. We have been thinking about this a lot—long before the video I posted about the problems with social media. Increasingly, I find myself supporting publications and creators directly, and it's a vastly better experience. We're really going to give it our all here!
Thanks, David! That's exactly what we're hoping for. We really want to see all bike publications flourish in this challenging environment, but the incentive structure right now is all out of whack. Maybe we're overly optimistic, but we're hoping to create a bit of a counterweight.
Thanks for the offer for this, Seth. I’ve massively bonded with my son thanks in large part to Berm Peak and, well, to COVID. Or the time lockdown afforded us, anyway. We went to Bentonville that fall and are avid viewers still. In any case, it’s great to be a part of this community.
It was mountain biking hacks that first brought me to you (you stored your bikes in a closet back then) and I’ve really enjoyed the way your style and content has evolved. There isn’t another content creator anywhere I’ve stuck with for anything like this long and that’s a testament to your honest and relatable approach to everything. I’m excited to see where this ride goes next.
That means a lot. Hindsight is always clear, but trying to evolve looking forward is always more difficult. With this move to Substack I’m feeling inspired, so hopefully it was the right move!
I dabble in creative writing and have seen Amazon’s algorithm change massively in favor of independent authors’ profits going to Amazon. For that very reason, I’ve always appreciated how much success YouTube has afforded its creators. I’m very sorry to hear there are algorithm problems there, as well.
I'm not as familiar with how Amazon has changed, but I know that when incentives change people will eventually flock elsewhere. It'll be interesting to see what kinds of doors Amazon inadvertently opens up for competitors.
Substack is a great platform, very savvy move to adapt. You have a lot of supporters who share your vision for what an online community can be. This is exciting. I respect and appreciate that you are building a path for content uncompromised by the sway of the algorithm.
I am looking forward to the articles! Also, very excited to hear more from Daniel, and the many voices you two will bring to the stack!
Thanks Seth and Dan and all the people who have helped with Bern Peak. Seth, you are the reason I started mountain biking in 2016. I got a used bike (1997 Haro Vector V1 Ridged) and hit the local trails. I was hooked. Got a better bike(s) and continue to ride. I've been following you since then and hope to get down to NC one day to ride what I helped build. Thanks again.
I'm excited about this Seth, it feels like a better way to engage with a real audience and not be beholden to the whims of YouTube or other social media platforms. Lt to mention advertising dollars.
As with so many others I'm happy to pay for quality content.
Hey Seth. I haven’t had the time to read what prompted the change from Patreon to Substack but wherever you go we will follow!
I can't tell you how much I appreciate that.

Feels like a long awated page in your journey has been turned Seth. I've been with you since SBH in Florida. (OG $1 subscriber here...🤘)
Still miss the Taco Tuesdays with Alex.
Hoping this new avenue continues your amazing success. You certainly have put the hours in to get there.
Peace out Brotha
Thanks, Russ! Those days feel like decades ago. We're happy to have you aboard, and there are great things to come.
I believe it has been nearly a decade.
Can't wait to see what you come up with next
Optimistic angle. Good to look at it that way.

Here we are... glad to continue to be a part of this ever-evolving journey!

I must have missed something over on Patreon that this was being created. Either way, super cool to see what you are building here.
