Wow!. This is unreal. Glad you guys are all safe and please continue to be safe.

You are a good man. Checking on elderly neighbors and helping where and when you can. Keep up the good work and please be safe out there.

So glad to hear that you're okay!!!

I'm sure you already know this, but if not, if your truck has pro-power on board, it can run your whole house like your generator is doing, vs just the fridge. It likely will use less gas to charge the truck via the generator (assuming you can charge at 220V so the generator can run a more efficient load) vs using it to run the house.

one other thing to note, you should always fill gas cans on the ground, otherwise there's a risk of accidentally starting a fire. (here's a source from the CDC)

So actually, you can only do that if you have a GFCI transfer plug, which I had planned on installing, but dropped the ball!

This is gut wrenching. Absolutely gut wrenching. I'm at a loss for words. I can't imagine how you felt when you were turned back and couldn't get the prescription - I tried, and I was close to just losing it.

God damnit Seth Alvo you're a good man, your family and your community can be proud.

Here's hoping it's over soon.

We're really lucky, and my daughter has what she needs now. I could see the look on the pharmacist's face that his hands were tied and that he had been working a long shift.

That's good to hear. It's not easy on anyone, I'm sure.

I was talking to Eric Porter the other day at a race. Our kids are on the same NICA team. He said you barely got home out of CB. Glad you were able to get back to your family for this event! Such a devastating experience! I hope that normalcy comes sooner than later for everyone in the area.

It would have been devastating to leave the family alone there. Thanks for the well wishes.

I just moved to Greenville in July. This was unbelievable. We just got power back at 8 AM this morning. Luckily the house has no damage.

I'm very thankful that you and your family are safe!

You were obviously very fortunate, but at the same time very wisely used the resources available to you and were able to just make it work.

My sister and family live in Morganton. Besides being without water and power for a couple days, they've been ok and have been able to keep in cell contact the whole time. Her in-laws are in Hendersonville where things are worse, little-to-no cell contact, a tree through their roof and lots of flooding around. I'm looking for ways to help from afar.

Hendersonville got hit bad. I'm about to go out there with a power bank and some stuff for my editor, Curtis. He's holding up, but has no power or a route out of his neighborhood by car. I'm going to be doing some hiking.

I’m glad y’all are safe. Thanks for the updates. I can’t believe the places I grew up in and went to collage in and around and recreated in are so damaged or in the case of Swannanoa just gone. Thinking of you all from New Zealand. I know it’s going to be a long recovery tail.

Hey Seth, just joined your substack, old patreon subscriber, but fell off the radar YouTube wise in the past year or two. Saw the news of the catastrophe in Asheville and saw your insta story updates and was saddened, but today on the popular NYT Daily podcast, the episode was devoted to it, and it brought it home how bad it really is, the reports said of the utter devastation of Swannanoa, I recall that is your old neighbourhood. I watched some YouTube news clips. Hope anyone you know still in that area is ok. The footage was bleak.

I figured subscribing to your substack was the best way to make a contribution to Asheville. You are a good man. Stay strong, sending positive vibes your way.

Thank you for this footage my family is all in the Brevard area and I have not heard from most of them. This is the first video I have seen of that area.

So thank you for taking the time to create a video for your viewers. I can't express enough how good it is to hear about a loved personality like yourself, doing well. (My kids asked about "Mr Seth when they heard Asheville) But here is the real feel good out of this:

You are exactly the type of person that helps the community at large during a time of need, because you check on your neighbors, survey the damage and take calculated risks associated with the priority of the needs versus the wants.

I was in a tornado once and lost everything, so I sympathize with this in that same boat. My family doesn't have a place in any of the impacted areas, about the memories we have in chimney Rock, Asheville, Boone, all our camping spots and fun excursions so close by from CLT, it's sad to see them in such destruction.

The best part about knowing you and your family is ok, is knowing that a person with your platform that has put some amazing work into play already will most likely help his own community yet again at a time for "all hands on deck".

You don't owe us an update, but I think we are all grateful to hear you are doing better today than a few days ago. Also hope everything gets better for your little one.

If there is an opportunity for your followers take part in a relief effort, I don't doubt you will let us know so we can help.

From Huntersville, stay safe and thanks again.

Wow. This hits close to home. I have spent allot of time in Ashville. My Mom's house was on Sunrise about 2 miles down 64 from that Citgo. God bless all those that have been effected.
