Bikes can be something different for everyone. Inherently, they are good. They can be fun, a method of travel, a way to carry supplies, and an avenue to countless other experiences. Watching Seth pull together this bike for a young rider named Lucy was a good reminder of how impactful a simple act of generosity can be, especially when it comes to bikes.
Over the years, I’ve been helped many times when it comes to bikes. A lot of us have. For me, there are a few that stand out: Long before I could drive, when I was just a kid hanging out at the bike shop, a guy I barely knew at the time (but vetted by other adults my parents knew), Andy D, took me out to purpose-built singletrack trails for the first time.
